Pablo Heras-Casado

Eclecticism is not the least of the qualities of Spanish conductor Pablo Heras-Casado (b. 1977), who tackles baroque music, chamber music, opera, the Romantic and contemporary repertoires with equal pleasure. He has led prestigious ensembles such as Daniel Barenboim's East-West Divan Orchestra, the orchestras of the Berlin and Paris operas, the Dresden Staatskapelle, the Zurich Tonhalle and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, and in 2011 was appointed principal conductor of the Orchestra of St. Luke's in New York. The same year, he received a Diapason d'or for the DVD Mahagony (Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht). His recorded work includes Schubert's Symphonies no. 3 & 4 , Mendelssohn's Symphony no. 2 , Placido Domingo's Verdi recital. In 2014, El Maestro Farinelli reveals a little-known facet of the Italian castrato, that of composer.
