A schoolteacher by profession, François-Régis Croisier worked for several years with the group St. Augustine, releasing two EPs and two albums on the Clermont-Ferrand label Kütu Folk, in which his love of Americana and pop shone through. He then took the helm of Pain-Noir, a project based on the demanding foundations of American folk, but with French lyrics. In 2015, with the help of Olivier Perez, from the group Garciaphone, he recorded his homonymous debut album in the privacy of his own home in just a fortnight.
