Born Michael McClure Jr. in Birmingham, Alabama on June 15, 1983, the award-winning gospel singer, musician, pastor, and Rock City Church founder is better known as Pastor Mike Jr. (aka PMJ). The son of Pastor Michael McClure Sr., Pastor Mike Jr. played college football for three years at the University of West Alabama but dropped out to pursue his calling in the ministry. In 2009, Pastor Mike Jr. founded The Rock City Church in Fairfield, Alabama before moving the congregation to Birmingham. As the pastor of the church, he soon began broadcasting a weekly show and began to grow his congregation and would soon become one of the most popular churches in the area. In 2019, Pastor Mike Jr. released “Big,” his debut single as a vocalist, which reached number 7 on Billboard’s Gospel Digital Singles chart. The album, Live Free, rose to the top of the Gospel albums chart. He was nominated for five awards at the Stellar Gospel Music Awards in 2020 and won Best New Artist and Rap / Hip Hop Gospel Album of the Year. His live release, Big Freedom Sessions (2020) and single “I Got It” earned him three more wins at the 2021 Stellar Gospel Music Awards including Artist of the Year, Urban Inspirational Single of the Year, and Rap / Hip Hop Gospel Album of the Year. His 2021 release, I Got It: Singles Ministry, Vol. 1, included the number 1 single “I Got It” and won six Stellar Awards: Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Contemporary Male Artist of the Year, Contemporary Album of the Year, and Urban / Inspirational Single or Performance of the Year. In 2023, he issued the album Impossible (2023), which featured tracks such as “Winning,” “Windows,” “Mr. McClure,” and “Black Sheep Freestyle.” Pastor Mike Jr. swept the Stellar Music Awards that year with eight wins: Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Contemporary Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Contemporary Album of the Year, Video of the Year, and Rap / Hip Hop Song of the Year.
