Brazilian singer, songwriter and guitarist Paula Fernandes began singing at the age of eight, releasing her first album 'Fernandes' just two years later. She is a popular exponent of sertanejo music of Brazil having sold nearly six million records worldwide and taken part in 15 international tours. In 1996, she moved to Sao Paolo with her family, where she got a job with a Rodeo tour and became their singer. Her second album, 'Ana Rayo' (1996), a mix of pop and sertanejo style songs, was inspired by the TV Series 'Ana Raio e Zé Trovao' which is about a Rodeo singer. She went to college in Belo Horizonte to study Geography, but continued singing in pubs and bars in the evenings. Fernandes met Jayme Monjardim in 2006 and they collaborated together to record the single 'Ave Maria Natureza', a version of Schubert's 'Ave Maria', which was used as the theme tune to the TV Show 'América'. Also in 2006, she released her album 'CançSes do Vento Sul' but the single 'Meu Eu Em Você' failed to chart. Her next album release was 'Dust in the Wind' in 2007 followed by 'Pássaro de Fogo' in 2009. The title track 'Pássaro de Fogo' reached number 36 in the Brazilian Singles Chart and number two on the Brazil Hot Popular Singles Chart. It was used as the theme tune to the TV show 'Paraíso'. Single 'Jeito de Mato' (2009) from the same album, reached number 24 in the Brazilian Singles Chart and number three on the Brazil Hot Popular Singles Chart. In 2011, Fernandes released her first live album 'Paula Fernandes: Ao Vivo' and the single 'Pra Você' which was her best-selling single to date, reaching number two in the Brazilian Singles Chart. From the same album, the single 'Nao Precisa', which was a duet with Victor & Leo, also reached number two in 2011. In 2012, she released album 'Meus Encantos' which was classified Diamond for sales and the single 'Eu Sem Você' reached number two in the Singles Chart. An EP titled 'Um Ser Amor' followed in 2013. The best-selling single from this album was 'Nâo Fui Eu' which reached number three. Also in 2013, she released another live album 'Multishow Ao Vivo: Um Ser Amor' and 2015 saw the release of the album 'Amanhecer' and the single 'Piraçao' which peaked at number four in the Brazilian Singles Chart. Fernandes released the album 'Hora Certa' in 2018 and from this the singles 'Traidor' and 'Beijo Bom'. She remains one of Brazil's most popular artists, which is shown in the opportunities she has had to duet with world famous starts such as Shania Twain, Michael Bolton and Taylor Swift.
