Peakboy, whose real name is Kwon Sung-hwan, is a South Korean rapper, record producer, and singer-songwriter. Born on May 27, 1989, in Gyeyang District, Incheon, Peakboy developed an interest in music at a young age after seeing his friend Park Yong-in use a music program. He began his career as a trainee at a company with the intention of becoming a vocalist but later decided to become a self-produced artist after completing his mandatory military service. Peakboy's stage name is derived from the peak point in making music and the regular usage of "boy" in the monikers of foreign record producers. He started his career by composing music for girl group Hello Venus and later took part in songwriting and production for other musicians, including Urban Zakapa on "Another Me" (2015) and Kkal & Maxx Caffe in the Morning (2016). In 2017, Peakboy released his debut single "Gin & Tonic" online and signed with Neuron Music the following year. He has since released three mini-albums and numerous singles, including "Birthday" featuring Hanhae as part of his single album 05/27 (2018), and "Diet" featuring Wheein of Mamamoo in his extended play Loop (2020). Peakboy's music is known for its trendy and original style, with lyrics that deal with his thoughts and experiences of everyday life. He has cited You Hee-yeol, Yoon Jong-shin, and Yoon Sang as his role models. in 2021, Peakboy released an electronic hip-hop single "Gyopo Hairstyle," which features cameos by model Han Hyun-min, actors Choi Woo-shik, Park Seo-joon, Park Hyung-sik, and singer V of BTS.
