Peso Pluma

Peso Pluma, born Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija on June 15, 1999 in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, is a Mexican rapper, musician, and singer. He began playing the guitar during his teenage years and honed his skills by writing songs influenced by regional Mexican music. Pluma gained moderate success with his first two studio albums, Ah y Qué? (2020) and Efectos Secundarios (2021). In 2022, Pluma achieved significant breakthrough with the release of single "El Belicón" in collaboration with Raul Vega, selling 480,000 units and earning an 8× Platinum Latin certification from the RIAA. Further developing his distinct musical style, characterized by corridos tumbados (corridos infused with elements of urban music, trap, and reggaeton), his popularity grew with the extended play Sembrando and the duet "Siempre Pendientes" with Luis R Conriquez, which received a 5× Platinum Latin certification and entered the Billboard Global 200 chart. Pluma's collaborations with Natanael Cano, namely "AMG" and "PRC," became viral sensations and charted on the Billboard Hot 100, making a strong impact in the Latin music community. In April, Pluma and Eslabon Armado made history with "Ella Baila Sola," becoming the first regional Mexican song to reach the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, eventually peaking at number 4. The success of the song catapulted Pluma's popularity worldwide, with eight of his songs simultaneously appearing on the Hot 100 in the week of April 29, 2023, making him the Mexican artist with the most Spanish-language entries in the US. His third studio album, Génesis, released in June, won the Grammy Award for Best Música Mexicana Album (including Tejano), and featured hit tracks "PRC" (with Natanael Cano) and "Lady Gaga" (with Gabito Ballesteros and Junior H), topping the US Latin charts and reaching number 3 on the Billboard 200. In 2024, he released a string of fresh singles including "Rompe la Dompe" (with Junior H and Oscar Maydon) and "Vino Tinto" (with Natanael Cano and Gabito Ballesteros). The singer also announced his second headlining tour and the release of his fourth studio album, Éxodo, in June. This album, featuring collaborations with Chino Pacas, Iván Cornejo, and Cardi B, returned him to the Number 1 position on the US Latin charts, climbing to number 5 on the Billboard 200.
