Born in Brussels, cosmopolitan artist Yannick Ilunga was raised in South Africa by his Congolese and Angolan parents. It was from this faraway land that, as a self-proclaimed fan of Prince and Joy Division, he formed the duo Popskarr and collaborated with Spoek Mathambo, before adopting the curious stage name Petite Noir. The birth certificate, in the form of the track "Till We Ghosts", heralded the multi-instrumentalist's musical palette, which blends electro, rap, R&B, rock and African music. Other samples follow before the release of the EP The King of Anxiety in February 2015 and his debut album La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful in September.
