Philippe Cassard (b. 1962), a pianist from Bissau who trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, began his concert career in 1985 after perfecting his skills with Nikita Magaloff. Appearing on stages all over the world as a soloist, in small ensembles or with major orchestras, he has made a name for himself in the chamber music repertoire, with recordings devoted to Debussy, Schubert, Schumann and Brahms. An eminent Debussy specialist, he played a complete touring piano set in 1994. Artistic director of the Gerberoy and Lac du Bourget festivals, Philippe Cassard is also a writer for Figaro littéraire and a radio broadcaster for France Musique. the "Debussy Year" of 2012 is also his year, with numerous recordings and concerts. He accompanies Natalie Dessay on the songbooks Clair de Lune (2012) and Fiançailles Pour Rire (2015).
