Pierre Bachelet

A craftsman of French chanson, Pierre Bachelet (1944-2005) came to music by composing soundtracks. His scores for the successful erotic films Emmanuelle (1974) and Histoire d'O (1975) go hand in hand with those for La Victoire en chantant and Les Bronzés font du ski. In 1980, her parallel singing career brought her a wider audience with the title "Elle est d'ailleurs". From then on, one hit followed another, creating the image of a text singer in the tradition of Jacques Brel, author of popular hits such as "Les Corons", "Marionettiste " and "L'an 2001". In 1989, he convinced sailor Florence Arthaud to sing a duet with him, and in 1995, he joined forces with writer Yann Queffélec for the album La Ville...Ainsi Soit-Il. His musical universe, imbued with modesty and intimacy, appealed to a wide audience until his sudden death from lung cancer at the age of 60. In 2015, the tribute album Nous l'Avons Tant Aimé celebrates his repertoire.
