Pimpinela is a Latin pop brother-and-sister duo from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Composed of siblings Joaquín and Lucía Galán, the group is known for its romantic songs and theatrical live performances. They released their studio debut, Las Últimas Golondrinas, shortly after forming in 1981. Their next album, 1982's Pimpinela, went on to become a smashing success in Argentina and Latin America thanks to the popularity of the Number 1 single "Olvídame y Pega la Vuelta." This was followed by award-winning performances at the Viña del Mar festival, a duet with Spanish crooner Dyango ("Por Ese Hombre" from 1985's Lucía y Joaquín), and lead roles in a telenovela based on their 1986 album, El Duende Azul. Pimpinela continued their career in the following decades with successful albums such as Hay Amores Que Matan (1993), Corazón Gitano (1999), Buena Onda (2000), and ¿Dónde Están los Hombres? (2005), which featured a duet with electro-pop act Miranda! on the track "Cena Para Cuatro." Other popular releases include Diamante (2008), Estamos Todos Locos (2011), Son Todos Iguales (2016), and the single "El Año Que Se Detuvo el Tiempo," recorded and released during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. After serving as judges on the singing competition La Voz Senior Perú in 2021, Pimpinela returned a year later with the singles "Siempre Vivirás Dentro de Mí," a tribute to their late mother, and "Cuando Lo Veo," whose promotional video featured Chilean actor Benjamín Vicuña.
