The American electro duo Planet Soul originated in Miami, Florida in the mid-1990s. Specializing in the prominent house dance scene of the time, producer George Acosta and singer Nadine Renee enjoyed a breakout hit with 1995’s “Set U Free”, a top 5 dance single that climbed to number 26 on the pop chart. That set the stage for the release of their debut LP, 1996’s Energy and Harmony on the Strictly Rhythm label. The album would never get higher than 165. Their follow-up single, 1996’s “Feel the Music” featured Brenda Dee on vocals, and though it was another top 10 dance hit that would eventually be certified gold, it stalled at 73 on the pop chart. Two more singles, 1996’s “Look Into My Eyes” and 1999’s “Music Is My Life” failed to gain any commercial traction. Nadine Renee passed away on December 2, 2004 during childbirth.
