Polarkreis 18

Polarkreis 18 is a German pop group that was founded in Dresden in 1998 as a school band under the name Jack of All Trades. In 2004, the band changed its name to Polarkreis 18. Their musical style can be described as a mixture of pop, synth-pop, post-rock and indietronic. The band consists of Felix Räuber (vocals, guitar, piano), Philipp Makolies (guitar, piano), Christian Grochau (drums), Uwe Pasora (bass) and Ludwig Bauer (piano, guitar, trumpet). Former member is Silvester Wenzel (piano, electronics, backing vocals), who left the band in 2011. Polarkreis 18 released their self-titled debut album Polarkreis 18 in 2007. The band achieved their commercial breakthrough in 2008 with the single "Allein Allein", which reached number 1 in the German charts. The accompanying album The Colour of Snow enters the German album charts at number 4. 2010 sees the release of their third studio album Frei, which reaches number 8 in the German charts. The single "Unendliche Sinfonie" from this album reaches the top 40 of the German singles charts. The band's awards include second place at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2009 with the song "The Color of Snow". the video for "Allein Allein" is also nominated for the Echo 2009 in the "Best Video" category. in 2012, the band decided to withdraw from the public eye. Since then, the members have dedicated themselves to various projects. Felix Räuber launched a solo career in 2018 and released the EPs Wall (2018) and Me (2019).
