The Japanese rock band Polkadot Stingray were formed in the city of Fukuoka in 2015 and are based around frontperson Shizuku who sings and plays guitar. The band, who have built up a large following of Japanese music fans, play tightly arranged tracks in a distinctive, syncopated style. Their debut national release was 'Telecaster Stripe' and this has become one of their signature tunes garnering over a million likes on YouTube. As with many Japanese bands, Polkadot Stingray have found their music being adopted by the country's popular anime culture and they have written the title track for the anime series 'Radiant'. Debut album 'Zenchizenn?' was released in 2017 and peaked at number six on the Japanese charts. In 2018 the band's track 'Himitsu' made the top three in Japan's Oricon chart and their rapidly growing internet following suggests they will become one of the most successful Japanese rock acts to emerge in recent years. 2019 saw the arrival of their second studio album, Uch?ten, which peaked at number seven on the Japanese charts.
