The Oral Cigarettes are a Japanese alternative rock band that formed in 2010 in Nara, Japan. Vocalist/guitarist Takuya Yamanaka, bassist/vocalist Akira Akirakani, guitarist Shigenobu Suzuki, and drummer Take released their debut demo, Nōsatsu A-Type, later that year. An independently released debut album, Tsuki ni Hoete, Aware..., followed in early 2011, with a second independent record, Shingetsu to Ohitsujiza, appearing in 2012. The Oral Cigarettes signed with the Japanese record label A-Sketch that same year and released their major-label debut, the Orange no Nukegara, Watashi ga Ikita Ai no Akashi EP, in 2013. Orange no Nukegara, Watashi ga Ikita Ai no Akashi charted at number 95 in Japan and was followed by the full-length album The BKW Show!!, which reached number 20 on the Oricon Albums chart in 2014. The album included the band's first Top 40 hit, "Kishi Kaisei Story," which reached number 28 on the Oricon chart on the and number 27 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100. The Oral Cigarettes scored two additional Top 40 hits, "Kyōran Hey Kids!!" and "Amy," in 2015, which both songs appearing on the album Fixion in 2016. One year later, the band reached number 3 with Unofficial, which included The Oral Cigarette's first Top 10 hit, "5150." Two additional Top 10 hits — Tonariau," which climbed to number 6, and "One's Again," which climbed to number 3 — were released on 2018's Kisses and Kills, which marked the group's first album to hit Number 1 on both of the Oricon and Billboard charts. Suck My World accomplished the same feat two years later, topping Japan's two album charts and spawning another hit single with "Wagamama de Gomakasanaide," which climbed to number 5.
