Poppy Ackroyd is a post-classical composer and multi-instrumentalist, known for coaxing unconventional sounds and percussive textures from traditional classical instruments. Born in London, England, in 1982, she studied violin and piano as a child. Those two instruments were the only ones featured on her debut album, 2012's Escapement. Feathers followed in 2014. 2017's Sketches found Ackroyd focusing exclusively on the piano, performing a mix of new material and piano-heavy revisions of older songs. For 2018's Resolve, she put together a small studio band that included Hang player Manu Delago.
