Potra, the indie pop project led by Argentine singer-songwriter Sofía Vitola, emerged in 2014 with a distinctive blend of heartfelt ballads and polished pop-rock arrangements. After years of honing her craft in Rosario and later Buenos Aires, Vitola formed Potra alongside Candelaria Molina, releasing a self-titled debut album that established their presence in Argentina’s indie scene. The band gained recognition through performances with artists like Miranda!, Indios, and Rosario Ortega, and they represented Argentina at the World Music Festival Weltenclang in Germany in 2015. Potra's second album, 2023's Labio Inferior, saw Vitola refining her sound with collaborations from Jorge Serrano (Los Auténticos Decadentes), Juan Ingaramo, and writer Tamara Tenenbaum, producing vibrant tracks like "Novio Intelectual" and "Mi Delito." The project’s ability to fuse indie aesthetics with mainstream appeal has cemented Vitola as a key voice in contemporary Argentine pop, evolving from the underground scene with Lavial to a recognized solo identity within Potra.
