PRODUCE X 101 are the product of the TV reality talent show of the same name, where the audience chooses the winners from a wide selection of hopefuls who will then be moulded into a K-pop band. The show invites all the major players from the various entertainment sectors who control the South Korean pop business to submit their up and coming artists. 101 individuals are initially chosen by their respective promoters to compete in the show and the eventual winners are chosen by a process of elimination over 12 episodes. The show is extremely popular in South Korea and attracts huge audiences.
