British multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ Will Holland – born in 1980 in the UK – is better known by his stage name Quantic. The versatile Holland has become well-known in the nu-jazz, electronic, downtempo, Latin, trip-hop, and world music scenes. He also works under other various pseudonyms such as Quantic Soul Orchestra, The Limp Twins, Flowering Inferno, and Ondatrópica. Some of his most critically successful releases are his collaborations with vocalist Alice Russell. Teaming up with Tru Thoughts Records, his first release under the Quantic name was 2001’s The 5th Exotic, followed by Apricot Morning (2002). After releases under the names The Limp Twins and The Quantic Soul Orchestra, he returned as Quantic with 2004’s Mishaps Happening. After several more releases, he moved to Colombia to expand upon his love for Latin music (salsa, cumbia, bossa novaetc.). He set up his studio there and began using local musicians to make his music sound and feel more authentic. During this period, he released albums under the names Flowering Inferno, The Combo Barbaro, and Los Miticos del Ritmo. He also managed to release 2010’s Look Around the Corner, his collaboration with vocalist Alice Russell. While the two of them had collaborated with each other in the past, this was the first album released under both of their names. After spending seven years in Colombia, Holland moved to New York, where he continued to create music that incorporated facets of modern dance culture, electronica, and Latin rhythms. He has also remixed over 30 releases by various artists. During his career, Holland has run various labels including Magnetic Fields and Selva.
