A composer who has worked on television shows, Hollywood movies and video games, Ramin Djawadi is best known for creating the dramatic theme tune and background music for the hit HBO series Game Of Thrones. Born in Duisburg, West Germany, he grew up playing guitar and piano in bands as a teenager, before becoming inspired by the music to Star Wars and The Magnificent Seven and moving to America to study at Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts in the 1990s. After graduating, he worked for composer and producer Hans Zimmer's company and as an assistant to film composer Klaus Badelt, and his first major job was to collaborate with Wu-Tang rapper RZA on the soundtrack to sci-fi movie Blade: Trinity in 2004. He went on to write scores for TV shows FlashForward, Prison Break and Person Of Interest, before really making his name as a co-producer of the soundtrack to super hero blockbuster Iron Man in 2008. Other big movie projects include Pacific Rim, Clash Of The Titans and Warcraft, but it is his dramatic, emotional, haunting soundtracks for Game Of Thrones that has made the most impact and won him an army of obsessed fans.
