In the mid-1990s, in contrast to the more committed rap of groups such as NTM and IAM, many rap groups opted for a more festive spirit, far removed from the cries of revolt of the former. Among them are Ménélik, Alliance Etnnik and Reciprok. This duo, made up of Sanders from Livry-Gargan in Seine-Saint-Denis and Kayse from Clichy-sous-Bois, scored a huge hit in 1995 with the track "Balance-toi". New singles such as "Tchi-tcha " and "Libres comme l'air" soon paved the way for the release of the album Il Y A des Jours Comme Ça the following year. Despite this, the adventure soon came to an end with the break-up of the group, which did not prevent Kayse from launching a solo career in 2001 with the album Contre Vents et Marées, which nevertheless struggled to find its audience.
