Riopy

Born in France in 1983, self-taught pianist, composer, and producer Jean-Philippe RioPy is better known by his stage name Riopy. Born and raised in rural France, he discovered an abandoned piano and taught himself to play it and to compose music. He moved to Oxford, England in 2006 and began his musical training before moving to London in 2009. He was chosen as a featured Steinway & Sons artist and gave his first live performances at the Royal Opera House in 2010 and The Arts Club, Mayfair in 2011. Riopy began to compose music for EMI, Air-Edel and Warner Chappell, specializing in film trailers, advertisements and TV documentaries. His compositions for film trailers have included Mr. Turner (2014), Jimmy's Hall (2014), The Danish Girl (2015) and A Royal Night Out (2015). He has also written music for TV documentaries - She Want Soul (2011) and The Kodiak Queen (2018) - and film shorts including Long Walk Home (2012) and On the Bridge (2013). His music has also been used in advertising campaigns for Armani, Bentley, Samsung and Ikea. After many years of soundtrack and music for advertisements, Riopy released his self-titled debut album of original compositions in 2018. The album featured popular tracks such as “I Love You” and “New York.” He followed that album with Tree of Light (2019), Bliss (2021), and an expanded version of Bliss in 2022. Riopy’s next album, Thrive (2023), was inspired by composers such as Pachelbel, Satie, Chopin, Beethoven, Debussy, and Fauré.
