Rosenstolz

The German music duo Rosenstolz was founded in Berlin in 1991 by singer AnNa R. and keyboardist and singer Peter Plate. They mixed elements of chanson with more pop compositions, creating their very own style, which they first released in 1992 on an album called Soubrette werd' ich nie. They celebrated their commercial breakthrough around the turn of the millennium with the albums Zucker (1999), which reached number 2 in the German charts, and Kassengift (2000), which even reached number 1 in the bestseller list. With the second number 1 album Herz (2004) and the hit single "Liebe ist alles", they finally managed to establish themselves in the German-speaking pop Olympus. Subsequently, all three further albums also reached the top of the charts in Germany and Austria. Das große Leben (2006), including the platinum single "Ich bin ich (wir sind wir)", and Die Suche geht weiter (2008) with their first number 1 single "Gib mir Sonne" made people dream, laugh and cry. But success came at a price. Peter Plate suffered a burn-out, whereupon the band took a break of almost three years. in 2011, Rosenstolz made a successful comeback with the aptly titled single "Wir sind am Leben" (We are alive ) and shot back to number one in the charts with the album of the same name. Just one year later, however, the duo decided to take another indefinite break. AnNa R. sang in the bands Gleis 8 and Silly following the split and Peter Plate released his debut solo album Schüchtern ist mein Glück in 2013 and produced and composed for Sarah Connor and Max Raabe, among others.
