Rubby Haddock y Su Orquesta emerged in the late 1960s, establishing themselves as one of Puerto Rico’s most vibrant salsa big bands. Led by trombonist, composer, and producer Rubby Haddock, the group made its recording debut with Presenting (1972), a breakthrough that paved the way for a prolific career spanning multiple decades. Throughout the 1970s, the band released standout albums such as Así Me Llaman and La Leyenda, with tracks like "Monacillo" and "Correa Cotto" gaining widespread popularity. In 1978, Haddock momentarily stepped away from the music scene to serve in the U.S. military, where he further honed his skills in jazz and orchestral arrangements. Upon his return in the 1980s, he revitalized his career with the hit album De Regreso, featuring memorable songs like "A Mi Jibarita" and "Sra. Tentación." Alongside his musical career, Rubby Haddock became a respected figure in Puerto Rican television, producing shows that featured legends such as José José and Eddie Palmieri. In 1992, his orchestra represented Puerto Rico at the Expo in Seville, Spain. Later, Rubby Haddock expanded his influence as a music producer and advertising executive, founding his own recording studio, Pentagrama Sound. He eventually relocated to the United States and remains a revered figure in salsa.
