Max Torres

Max Torres, born Máximo Torres Jr. on January 13, 1960, in Carolina, Puerto Rico, has built a distinguished career in salsa, blending romantic and tropical rhythms with a signature vocal style. He began performing in 1973 with Los Chiquitines del Son and later joined renowned orchestras, including those led by Sammy González, Cuco Peña, and Tommy Olivencia. In 1988, he launched his solo career with Sensualmente Tropical, becoming the first tropical artist signed to Capitol EMI Latin, earning a Gold record. His 1989 follow-up, Aprenderé, featured hits like "Mala Suerte," which won him a Grammy Award and another gold record. Throughout the early 1990s, he continued to dominate the salsa scene with albums such as Peligroso Amor (1990) and From Puerto Rico by Max Torres (1991), cementing his presence in Latin America, where he won prestigious awards like Mara de Oro and Cacique de Oro. In the 2000s, he expanded his catalog with Y Mi Vida Ahora Es Otra (2004) and a greatest hits compilation. After relocating to Miami in 2018, he released Es Mi Castigo, featuring the single "De Que Me Sirve La Vida."
