Hildemaro, born José Hildemaro Hugas Amarista on November 10, 1957, in Caripito, Venezuela, is a celebrated salsa singer renowned for his smooth vocals and a career spanning decades. From an early age, he showed a passion for music, participating in local radio programs and performing with regional bands like Los Bravos and Soles de Medianoche. His career took a significant turn in 1976 when he joined Los Satélites and later gained national recognition with Orquesta Ideal through the hit “Contigo Besos Salvajes.” After stints with notable groups like Los Melódicos and Supercombo Los Tropicales, Hildemaro launched his solo career in 1986. His debut album, Amanecí Contigo (1988), propelled him to international fame, especially in markets like Peru and the United States. He followed this success with Sin Tabú (1989), earning a Gold Record, and continued his streak with albums like Romántico y Sensual (1990) and Lo Mejor De Mí (1991). Hildemaro’s collaborations include duets with stars like Andy Montañez and Issac Delgado, as well as tributes to Venezuelan legends. Known for his ability to infuse romanticism into salsa, Hildemaro remained active well into the 2020s, performing live and captivating audiences with his timeless artistry on global stages.
