Launched by Ben Worcester and Tyler Bancroft in 2007, Said The Whale is a Canadian indie-rock band best known for hit singles like "UnAmerican" and the chart-topping "I Love You." The group formed in Vancouver, British Columbia, and released two EPs — Let's Have Sound and Taking Abalonia — during its first year. The full-length album Howe Sounds/Taking Abalonia followed in 2008, with the sophomore effort Islands Disappear appearing in 2009. "Camilo (The Magician)" became the band's first hit on rock radio, reaching Number 20 on the Canadian Alternative chart. One year after Said The Whale won the 2011 Juno Award for "New Group of the Year," Little Mountain was released in 2012 and continued the band's upward trajectory. The album peaked at Number 17 in Canada and produced the Top 40 rock singles "Heavy Ceiling" and "Loveless." One year later, "I Love You" — a track from the band's 2013 release, Hawaiii — became a Number 1 hit on the Canadian Alternative chart. Albums like As Long As Your Eyes Are Wide and Cascadia kept Said The Whale busy throughout the remainder of the decade, and the group released its seventh record, Dandelion, in October 2021. The album earned another hit with "Honey Lungs," which reached Number 21 on the Canadian Rock chart.
