Santiano

Santiano is a German band from the northern state of Schleswig-Holstein. Formed in 2011 by Flensburg producer and label owner Hartmut Krech, the group's lineup consists of multi-instrumentalists Hans-Timm "Timsen" Hinrichsen, Axel Stosberg, Björn Both, Andreas Fahnert, and Peter David "Pete" Sage. They are known for putting their own spin on traditional German folk, which they fuse with rock, schlager, sea shanties, and Celtic music. Ever since their debut on the album Bis ans Ende der Welt in 2012, Santiano have been consistently topping the GfK Entertainment charts in Germany with LPs such as Mit den Gezeiten (2013), Von Liebe, Tod und Freiheit (2015), Im Auge des Sturms (2017), and MTV Unplugged (2019), and received numerous awards for their work, including Echo awards for Best Folk Music in 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2018. Wenn die Kälte kommt, their fifth long player, arrived in 2021 and went straight to the top of the albums chart, followed by the compilation Die Sehnsucht ist mein Steuermann – Das Beste aus 10 Jahren, their seventh consecutive release to reach Number 1 in their home country.
