Sayaka Yamamoto is a J-pop singer who first gained fame as a member of the groups NMB48 and AKB48. Born 14 July, 1993 in Ibaraki in Osaka, Japan, she auditioned for and first appeared with NMB48 in 2011, making her debut with Team N. She appeared on Japanese television dramas including Majisuka Gakuen (2015), Hibana (2016) and Cabasuka Gakuen (2016). Her debut solo album Rainbow went to number 3 on Japan's Oricon Albums Chart in 2016 with second album Identity (2017) reaching number 2. On April 17, 2019, Yamamoto released her first solo single "Ichirinsou" followed by “Toge" in September. Her third album α (Alpha) followed on December 25, which charted at number 5. After taking a health-related hiatus, Yamamoto returned in July, 2022, performing at the Chillin’ Vibes music festival, followed by solo concerts in Tokyo and Osaka in December. She released her fourth studio album & on May 17, 2023, which debuted on the charts at number 10.
