SB19 are a Filipino boy band who were put together by the Korean entertainment company ShowBT Entertainment in 2016. The group has been working with the production team from RealBros, veteran producers who have masterminded numerous K-pop hits. This is the first time a large and influential Korean music business company has looked to the Philippines in search of new talent and, depending on SB19's success, could pave the way for more Filipino groups to find an outlet for their music within the lucrative K-pop market. The band is made up of members Pablo, Josh, Justin, Ken, and Stell who debuted in October 2018 with the single “Tilaluha.” Although the single had a tepid reception from audiences, SB19 would finally hit their stride with the viral track “Go Up,” released in 2019. That same year, they became the first Filipino artists to be featured on Billboard’s Next Big Sound and signed a contract with Sony Music Philippines, releasing the single “Alab (Burning)” shortly after. In 2020, SB19 issued their studio debut Get in the Zone, making history by becoming the first Filipino idol group to enter the Top 100 in the American streaming charts. This success was followed by the release of the singles “What?” and “Mapa,” both included in their 2021 EP Pagsibol.
