Seaweed Mustache (Korean: 미역수염) is a South Korean blackgaze band formed in 2014. The band, consisting of Choi Jihoon, Jeong Jooyi, Lee Wanki, and Ban Jaehyeon, is known for blending elements of post-punk, shoegaze, and black metal. They first gained attention with their 2016 EP, The Whistle, which received favorable reviews for its dark post-punk atmosphere, heavy guitar riffs, and dynamic vocal styles, incorporating growling and shouting. Despite the positive reception, the band remained inactive for six years due to member Jeong Jooyi's focus on family life. Seaweed Mustache made a comeback in 2022 with their debut full-length album, Bombora. The album marked a significant evolution in their sound, described by critics as a new and expansive auditory experience, creating a sonic space filled with intensity and atmosphere. Bombora was nominated for Best Metal & Hardcore Album at the 2023 Korean Music Awards, solidifying the band's reputation within the South Korean underground metal scene.
