Second Hand Rose Band is a Chinese music group that plays rock music using traditional folk instruments. Led by singer Liang Long and multi-instrumentalist Wu Zekun, the band was formed in Beijing in 1999 and quickly established itself as one of the most interesting acts to emerge from China’s alternative music scene. Following a series of appearances in festivals around the globe, Second Hand Rose Band made their debut with a critically acclaimed eponymous album in 2004, which received rave reviews not only in China but also in the United States. They followed this success with 2006’s The World of Entertainment, after which they began going by just Second Hand Rose. In the subsequent years, the band went through a series of lineup changes and continued to challenge audiences around the world with eclectic titles like Lover (2009), Everyone Wants to Be the Lead Singer (2010), Stealing the Show (2013), and I Want to Bloom (2018).
