Even though she was born in Istanbul in 1998, pop singer Selin Gecit spent most of her life in the United Kingdom. After recording a version of Alexandra Burke's "Hallelujah" with her musician father at the age of 8, Selin began growing a loyal fanbase in Turkey through a wide assortment of cover versions on her video-streaming channel. Over the next few years, she participated in a couple of singing contests and then relocated to her native Istanbul, where she performed in several local TV shows with her band Frey. "It's Just a Feeling," her debut single, appeared in 2019 and was followed by collaborations with Turkish electronic producers Mahmut Orhan ("In Control") and Mert Oksuz ("Everything We Had") in 2020. Thanks to the great reception of her first batch of singles, Selin was able to ink a deal with Warner Music Turkey and made her major-label debut in 2021 with the single "Gidip Gel." Subsequently, she continued to hone her vibrant mix of Anatolian pop and R&B on singles like "Asi" (2022), "His" (2022), and "Son Arzum (Nostalgia Sessions)," which entered the Top 100 of the Turkish streaming charts at Number 93.
