Sergent Garcia

Caught up in his Spanish origins, Sergent Garcia (born Bruno Garcia in 1964) has gone from the French punk rock of Ludwig von 88 to "salsamuffin" in Spanish, a genre he humorously claims to be the instigator of. His blend of reggae, salsa and raggamuffin has won him audiences far beyond France's borders. From his first self-produced album Viva el Sergento (1996) to the more muscular Mascaras (2006), ten years of touring and cultural cross-fertilization have gone by, with hardly a cloud to spoil the party. After Cuba, Jamaica and Mexico, it's Colombia that inspires Sergent Garcia for the album Una Y Otra Vez (2011) and its French-language successor, Contre Vents et Marées (2015).
