Shatta Rako

Shatta Rako is a Ghanaian musician and singer-songwriter who specializes in the genres of afrobeat and dancehall. He is also a renowned graphic designer and the CEO of Legend Studios. Shatta Rako was born Rexford Kojo Amoah on November 12, 1979, in Agona Mankrong, in the Central Region of Ghana. At an early age, he embarked on his musical journey by joining his school choir, and a few years later he became a radio show host and DJ on Contatto radio. Soon he relocated to London, where he began working on his own music, releasing his debut single “Nfoni” in 2005, followed shortly by an album of the same name. In 2008, he released the album Redefined. He established a fruitful collaboration with producer Kofi Ackah and, over the following years, released singles such as “Sete - Dancehall” (2011), “Good Gurl Gone Bad” (2011), and “Shame of the Game” (2012). In 2016, his fourth album Preface was released, launching him to further success. Shatta Rako won the Songwriter of the Year Award at the 2016 BASS Awards. Over the following years, he released singles such as “We Dey Bet” (2019), “Too Late” (2020), and “Focus” (2021). In 2022, Shatta Rako released the single “Ghana (Highlife),” a collaboration with Jahlead from the album of the same name.
