Shigeru Suzuki

Born on 20 December 1951 in Setagaya, Tokyo, Shigeru Suzuki is a celebrated Japanese guitarist best known for his contributions to the iconic Japanese rock band Happy End, a pioneering force in the development of modern Japanese pop and rock music in the 1970s. He released three albums with the group—1970's Happy End, 1971's Kazemachi Roman, and 1973's Happy End—before calling it quits at the end of 1973. Two years later, Shigeru Suzuki began making inroads as a soloist with his debut 1975 album Band Wagon, which was recorded in LA with a group of American musicians from bands such as Sly and the Family Stone and Santana. He continued to put out albums at a consistent rate during the 1970s, taking a break before returning with Sei Do Ya in 1985 and another break before unveiling Kujira no Umi ~ Living Whales (クジラの海～Living Whales) in 1998, also putting out records as part of Tin Pan Alley with Tatsuo Hayashi, Masataka Matsutoya, and Hiroshi Sato. In March 2025, he celebrated the 50th anniversary of his 1975 debut Band Wagon with a newly remastered version.
