Sierra Ferrell

Before establishing her award-winning blend of American roots music, gypsy jazz, classic country, old-time swing, and bluegrass, songwriter Sierra Ferrell grew up in Charleston, West Virginia. She was born on August 3, 1988, and grew up in relatively poverty. By her early twenties, she had left home and transformed herself into a musical nomad, busking on street corners in cities like New Orleans and Asheville. Those performances sharpened her voice and her songwriting, as heard on her independent debut album, 2014's Pretty Magic Spell, as well as its 2016 follow-up, Washington By The Sea. She signed with Rounder Records in 2018 and released her first album for the label, Long Time Coming, in 2021. One year later, she was named "Emerging Act of the Year" at the Americana Honors & Awards, then received a nomination for "Artist of the Year" at the same awards show in 2022. Also in 2022, Ferrell duetted with Zach Bryan on the track "Holy Roller," which reached number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 17 on the Hot Country Songs chart, and number 14 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. Trail of Flowers, her second album for Rounder Records, appeared in 2024, featuring appearances from guests like Lukas Nelson and Nikki Lane.
