Australian pop punk and indie rock band Slowly Slowly was formed in 2015 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by Ben Stewart (lead vocals, guitar), Patrick Murphy (drums), Albert Doan (guitar) and Alex Quayle (bass guitar). Releasing their debut single “Empty Lungs” in June 2015, the band followed this up by “New York, Paris” and “PMTWGR” in 2016, prior to the independent release of their first studio album Chamomile in July that year. Signing to indie label UNFD in 2018, the band released their second album St Leonards, however it was their cover of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” on Triple J program Like a Version that gained the group the most attention with song attracting over 200,000 views online and securing their place on the Triple J Hottest 100, with their single “Jellyfish” coming in at number 57. The single which was included on the band’s third album Race Car Blues (February, 2020) was nominated for an APRA award, charting at number 18 on the Australian Independent Singles Chart with the album peaking at number 7 on the ARIA charts. A year later the band released Race Car Blues Chapter Two, an expanded version of their prior album with twelve additional tracks, following this with their fourth studio album Daisy Chain on November 4, 2022, charting at number 5, with lead single “Blueprint” nominated for Best Single in the 2022 Rolling Stone Australia Awards.
