Star Academy, quickly renamed "Star Ac'", was launched on TF1 in 2001, and revealed artists such as Jenifer, Grégory Lemarchal and Nolwenn Leroy. But the TV talent show has not only enabled the winners to make a living from their music, but also enabled other contestants to enjoy flourishing careers, as Sofia Essaïdi, Olivia Ruiz and Quentin Mosimann have proved. Stopped in 2008 due to a drop in ratings and public interest in its participants (Mickels Réa, the winner of this eighth season, didn't even record an album), Star Academy was reborn in 2012 thanks to DTT and the multiplication of TV channels. Broadcast from December 2012 to February 2013 on NRJ 12, season nine saw Laurène Bourvon win and the release of the album Les Meilleurs Moments . But the show made a comeback on TF1 in 2022, once again presented by Nikos Aliagas. Michael Goldman took over as director of the academy, and Robbie Williams was chosen as godfather. The audience was once again in attendance. They witness Anisha Jo Anyjaine's coronation at the end of the show. An album, Star Academy: Iconique, celebrates the highlights of the season. It includes the collective song "Ne partez pas sans moi", originally popularized by Céline Dion. In 2023, an eleventh season takes place, still broadcast on TF1 and presented by Nikos Aliagas. For the second year running, the show's promotional director is Michael Goldman, with artists James Blunt and Vitaa as patrons. Chosen as the season's anthem, Jean-Jacques Goldman's song "Au bout de mes rêves" features among others on L'Album de la Promo 2023, with the participation of winner Pierre Garnier. The twelfth season begins in October 2024, with Clara Luciani as godmother. The anthem "Recommence-moi" is followed by "Et si tu sens", written by Grégory Lemarchal and featured on the compilation L'Album de la Promo 2024, which reaches No. 10 in the French sales and listening charts.
