Stephanie Beatriz Bischoff Alvizuri, most commonly known as Stephanie Beatriz, is an Argentine-American actress and singer. Born on February 10, 1981, in Neuquén, Neuquén Province, Argentina, Stephanie Beatriz was the daughter of a Colombian father and a Bolivian mother. The family emigrated to the United States when she was two years old, and she consequently grew up in Webster, Texas. After taking up speech and debate in high school, she developed an interest in acting and moved to New York City in 2002 to pursue her passion. This led to minor roles in shows like The Closer and Southland, before earning recognition for her portrayal of Detective Rosa Diaz in the comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The show developed a passionate following and ran for eight seasons. In 2017, Stephanie Beatriz starred in the independent film The Light of the Moon, with her performance earning acclaim. In 2021, she appeared in the film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights. Also in 2021, she voiced the lead character Mirabel Madrigal in the Disney animated film Encanto. In the film, Stephanie Beatriz sang several songs including “The Family Madrigal,” which introduces the various characters that make up the super-powered Colombian family.
