Rooted in the psychedelic hard rock of the 1970s, Stonefield was formed in 2006 by teenage sisters Amy, Hannah, Holly, and Sarah Findlay. The girls were born and raised in the rural Australian town of Darraweit Guim, Victoria, where they began playing music together under the name Iotah. By 2010, they'd changed their name to Stonefield and earned the support of Australia's Triple J radio network, with their self-titled debut album arriving in 2013. The album became a Top 40 hit in the Findlays' native Australia. Three years later, Stonefield released their second album, As Above, So Below, and supported Fleetwood Mac on an Australian tour. Another round of high-profile touring across Australia — this time alongside Black Rebel Motorcycle Club — accompanied the band's third release, Far From Earth, in 2018, with Bent following in 2019.
