Such a Surge

Such A Surge was founded in 1992 in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, and was one of the first German bands to successfully combine rap-rock, metal and hip-hop. The band consisted of Oliver Schneider (vocals), Michel Begeame (vocals), Lutz Buch (guitar), Axel Horn (bass) and Carsten "Antek" Rudo (drums). Their music combined elements of rap, punk, hardcore and metal, with lyrics written partly in German, partly in English and French. Their first album Under Pressure (1995) reached number 42 in the German charts and made the band famous in the alternative music scene. With the album Agoraphobic Notes (1996), which reached number 25 in the German charts, they cemented their reputation as crossover pioneers. Their biggest commercial success was the album Der Surge Effekt (2000), which climbed to number 15 in the German charts. The band released their last album Alpha in 2005 and then announced that they were disbanding after 14 years and around 600 concerts. They played their last concert in Braunschweig on February 23, 2006. However, their musical legacy remains noticeable in the German rock and rap scene.
