Suzan & Freek is a Dutch pop duo consisting of Suzan Stortelder and Freek Rikkerink. The group was formed in 2014, initially recording cover versions of various songs by artists such as The Chainsmokers. In fact, it was their cover of The Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down” that first introduced the group to the world, going viral in 2016 when The Chainsmokers themselves shared it. This exposure led to the group’s growing popularity, and soon they recorded their debut EP, Glass House Sessions (2017), a collection of five cover versions. In 2018, Suzan & Freek decided to release their first original song, the self-composed single “Als Het Avond Is.” The song was a success for the duo, topping the Dutch Top 40 chart and eventually reaching platinum certification. Suzan & Freek followed it up with the song “Blauwe Dag,” which was also a hit for the fledgling group. These singles led to the 2019 release of their first full-length album, Gedeeld Door Ons, which peaked at Number 2 in the Netherlands and Belgium. This was followed by their second full-length album Dromen In Kleur (2021), which reached the top of the Belgian charts. In 2023, Suzan & Freek released the single “Slapeloosheid,” an 80s-influenced synth-pop track that entered the Tipparade Top 40 at Number 26.
