The Italian dance music act Tacabro was formed in Catania in 2008 by electronic music producers Mario Romano and Salvatore "Salvo" Sapienza. The duo had previously worked together DJing in numerous nightclubs and performed as the electro/tribal act Romano & Sapienza, releasing their debut single "Judas Brass" in 2008 via Hollister Records. After a few collaborative singles featuring Cuban-born singer Martínez "Ruly MC" Rodríguez—2011's "Mujeres" and "I Like Reggaeton"—Romano & Sapienza scored their first charting effort with the single "Tacata," which climbed to Number 4 on the Italian charts. The track was re-released later that year under the moniker Tacabro and achieved pole position in Austria, Denmark, France, Spain, and Switzerland, becoming the biggest hit in the group's career. Despite the astonishing popularity of "Tacata," the group's studio debut Ritmo de la Calle (2012) and their subsequent non-album singles failed to enter the European charts.
