Bollywood’s award-winning singer/songwriter Tanishk Bagchi was born November 23, 1980 in West Bengal, India. His work spanned the various languages in which Bollywood films are produced including Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. His first break into the film business came when he worked as a producer on a track for the 2014 film The Shaukeens. Working with Aditya Dev, Tanishk Bagchi earned his first film songwriting credit with the track “Banno” for the 2015 film Tanu Weds Manu Returns. He won multiple industry awards for his song “Baarish” from 2017’s Half Girlfriend. Though his work regularly earned poor reviews his popularity remained high with numerous songs like “Aankh Maarey”, “Dilbar”, and “Vaaste” all receiving over a billion streams online. He continued to work steadily in film and enjoyed success as half of Tanishk-Vayu, a composing team he formed with lyricist Vayu Shrivastav. He also enjoyed a number of successes writing for singer Asees Kaur. In 2021 he was back in the Indian pop charts with “Makhna”, a track taken from the soundtrack to the movie Drive.
