Tekno is a singer, songwriter, and producer operating in the Afro-Pop genre. He was born Augustine Miles Kelechi on December 17, 1992, in Bauchi, Bauchi State. At the age of 8, he was enrolled in music school, where he started to learn how to compose and produce music. A few years later, Tekno was signed under K-Money Entertainment and released the single “Holiday” with featured vocals from American-Nigerian singer Davido. “Holiday” was a success, and Tekno’s career was officially launched. Over the course of the next few years, Tekno released hits such as “Duro” and “Pana.” In 2014, he was awarded Best New Act of the Year at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Award. The following year he released the single “Duro,” which topped the charts in Nigeria and various other countries. In 2017, Tekno was named one of the Top 10 talents in hip-hop and R&B to look out for by Billboard magazine. Ever since then, Tekno has steadily been receiving global attention and recognition. He’s collaborated with artists such as Drake and Beyoncé (the latter as part of the soundtrack to the film The Lion King). In 2022, Tekno was featured in the single “Buga (Lo Lo Lo)” by Kizz Daniel, a track that became the most Shazamed song of 2022.
