The Accidentals, formed in Traverse City, Michigan, in 2012 by Savannah Buist and Katie Larson, have evolved into a dynamic indie folk-rock band with a diverse musical palette that includes elements of pop, bluegrass, rock, classical, and more. The band's discography spans six full-length albums, three EPs, and two live albums, starting with their self-produced debut, Tangled Red and Blue (2012), which introduced their eclectic sound and multi-instrumental talents. With Savannah Buist on lead vocals, violin, ukulele, viola, guitar, bass, piano, musical saw and mandolin, Katie Larson on lead vocals, cello, accordion, guitar, ukulele, bass, kazoo, piano and glockenspiel, and later joined by Michael Dause on percussion (replaced by Katelynn Corll in 2023), they quickly gained attention for their sophisticated songwriting and instrumental prowess. Their follow-up album, Bittersweet (2013), solidified their national reception and showcased a leap in production and musical complexity. The band's journey includes a brief signing with Sony Masterworks, during which they released Odyssey (2017), an album praised for its fusion of indie rock and orchestral arrangements.
