Indonesian funk supergroup The Backuucakar was formed by the late singer, actor and producer Glenn Fredley as his accompaniment band in 2008. Comprising a line-up of well-known names from the Indonesian music scene, the group performed live with Glenn Fredley right up until his death. The multi-faceted Indonesian star died from meningitis on 8 April 2020 in South Jakarta at the age of 44. The Bakuucakar began a new chapter in 2021 when they released their first two singles without their late frontman, "Love" and "Bakuucakar," with the latter weaving in strands of boogie, funk-pop, and soul for a celebratory ditty about brotherhood, and sees band member Rifka Rachman taking the vocal lead in Glenn Fredly's place. Their debut album, Reformula, followed in July 2022.
