Formed in 2014 but active over the course of the following year, southern rock band The Georgia Thunderbolts hails from Rome, US Georgia. Composed since 2016 of singer, guitarist, pianist and harmonica player TJ Lyle, guitarists Riley Couzzourt and Logan Tolbert, bassist, keyboardist Zach Everett and drummer Bristol Perry, the quintet recorded, after numerous concerts in the region and with the means at hand, a self-produced debut album, Southern Rock from Rome (2019). In 2021, a deal with Dutch label Mascot Records led to the recording of the EP The Georgia Thunderbolts and the album Can I Get a Witness, both of which received rave reviews in the specialist press. After opening for Black Stone Cherry and Blackberry Smoke, the band went on to perform at Americanafest, a well-attended Americana festival. In 2024, the album Rise Above It All further expanded the band's audience.
