Songwriter Landon Tewers launched his career as a member of the Christian post-hardcore band Before Their Eyes before going solo in 2010. After releasing the debut EP Wife Beater under the name "Vessels," he transformed the project into a full-fledged metalcore band, adopting the revised name "The Plot in You" along the way. The group's original lineup included bassist Ethan Yoder, drummer Cole Worden, and guitar players Anthony Thoma and Josh Childress. The Plot In You's full-length debut album, First Born, was released in 2011 and reached number 36 on the Heatseekers Albums chart. Two years later, the band topped that same chart with Could You Watch Your Children Burn, which also hit number 4 on the Hard Rock Albums chart. 2015's Happiness in Self Destruction and 2018's Dispose both reached Number 1 on the Heatseekers Albums chart, too, with the latter album also featured the gold-certified hit single "Feel Nothing." After releasing Swan Song in 2021, The Plot in You returned in 2024 with a pair of EPs. Simply titled Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, the releases featured the radio single "Closure," which became their first Top 40 hit when it reached number 28 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart that spring.
