We Came As Romans, also known as WCAR, are an American metalcore rock band formed in 2005 in Troy, Michigan by singer Mark Myatt, guitarists Joshua Moore and Dave Stephens, bassist Jonny Nabors and drummer Sean N. Zelda. Players have come and left since then and the current line-up features Moore and Stephens with guitarist Lou Cotton, bassist Andy Glass and drummer David Puckett. Vocalist Kyle Pavone was with the band from 2008 until his death from what was reported as an accidental drug overdose in August 2018 at the age of 28. Their 2009 debut album 'To Plant a Seed' went to number ten on Billboard's Top Rock Albums Chart and number 13 on the Hard Rock Albums Chart. 'Understanding What We've Grown to Be' (2011) reached number five on the Hard Rock Chart and number ten on the Rop Rock Chart. 'Tracing Back Roots' (2013) topped the Hard Rock Chart, peaked at number two on the Top Rock Chart and went to number eight on the Billboard 200, with 'We Came As Romans' (2015) going to number eleven on the 200. Following Pavone's death, the band said they would not have a new singer but would go on a memorial tour with Welsh heavy metal band Bullet for My Valentine.
